Dimethicone immobilizes fleas and ticks by purely physical means. Our Beta Pet product line does not contain chemical insecticides. The active ingredient is a special silicone oil (dimethicone) that forms a sticky layer around ticks and fleas. It acts as a trap that catches parasites. Because of this, they will be paralyzed and unable to move anymore. Parasites will fall from the animal or can be brushed off it. The sticky effect takes place on a micro level and the fur will not be sticky.
